John Gonzi
Investment Adviser & Executive Director
John started his career in financial services with a major local bank in 1990. After 30 years banking experience and with a qualification in Sales and Marketing, John moved on studying CEFA and specialising in financial markets.
His expertise in the market comes from a vast experience from previous roles obtained from other local Financial Institutions where John assisted clients to achieve their financial goals and objectives.
In 2020, Lawsons Equity has welcomed John in the team as a Senior Financial Planning Manager, where with his best knowledge and experience in both retail and high NetWorth clients, he manages portfolios and advises them accordingly to their risk tolerance and requirements. John is an approved and regulated insurance broker by the Malta Financial Services Authority.
Rachel Kieswetter
Operations Manager
After completion of A-Level education in 1997 Rachel started her career in Financial Services as a Customer Service Officer for Yorkshire Bank and moved into community banking as the Office Manager for Danum Credit Union until redundancy in 2008 led her to take on an administrative role within International Financial Services. During the 11 years spent working for the GWM group, vast knowledge and experience was gained from the numerous back office roles undertaken, culminating in the position of Operations Manager for the group and Director of GWM Financial Planning Limited in the UK.
In April 2019 Rachel took the opportunity to engage with Lawsons Equity Limited as Operations Manager to streamline the firms operational processes and procedures and oversee the day to day running of the back office. Rachel ensures that that all staff and contractors work over and above expected industry standards and works alongside the Compliance Manager to implement regulatory framework. Rachel also has current appointment as Company Secretary for the firm and is registered with the Malta Business Registry (MBR).
Careen Priestley-Smith

Careen has a front-line Customer Service background which started in the Licensed Trade. She gained an Honours Degree as a mature student before returning to the workforce as a Canteen Manager within Contract Catering. In a complete move away from the Hospitality Sector, Careen joined an electricity supply company as a Team Manager with a team responsible for resolving disputes and complaints, including Ombudsman complaints before redundancy gave her the opportunity to move to Malta.
Careen joined Lawsons Equity in 2018 in an administrative role and now ensures the Client database is kept up to date and provides support to both the Management Team and Financial Advisers.
